8th Grade Send-Off
We are excited to invite 5th grade students to the Middle School on Thursday, May 5th, for the 5th Grade Orientation. The orientation will allow 5th graders to meet their future teachers and get to know the building. They will get to ask questions and start building skills that will help them when they get here next year. They will get to see each 6th-grade classroom, as well as, meet with exploratory teachers, administration, and the counselor. Students will walk over to NCMS during their normal school day and will be dismissed from the Middle School. Students who ride the bus will still do so, just leaving from the Middle School. If you pick up your students, you can still do so in the front circle drive on the north side of the Middle school at 3:30 PM on the 5th. Students in after school club will be escorted back to Hayward by staff and be picked up as usual at Hayward. We look forward to seeing your students coming up and hope that everyone can end the school year well. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Hayward or the Middle School. Due to 5th Grade Orientation, the Middle School (and only the Middle School) will dismiss at 1:25 on Thursday, May 5th. Students who walk or normally get a ride home at that time will be free to do so. Students who ride the rural bus home will not be able to ride the bus until the normal 3:32 dismissal time. They are free to stay at the Middle School until that time or you are free to make other arrangements.

Good morning 6th grade families! Your student has been working hard this year on their National History Day project-an inquiry project into historical events and people that exemplify debate and diplomacy. We are very excited to share their work with you and the public. The event is scheduled for Monday, April 25th from 6:30-8:00 pm. 6th grade students should be at the school at 6:20 so they can set up their boards and be ready to share, and plan to stay until 8:00. Appropriate dress for students is appreciated. Please direct any questions to Mrs. Elizabeth Dunn: edunn@nebcityps.org

Mrs. Dunn’s enrichment class had the opportunity to study DNA over the last view days. They created models of their own, and even extracted some from strawberries. Thanks to the Otoe County Extension office for this super cool learning experience!
